Nylabone Cares: Supporting Shelters & Rescues in 2017

Nylabone Cares focuses on aiding shelters and rescue organizations, particularly through disaster relief and assistance dog programs. They have provided crucial support for dogs affected by natural disasters and partner with organizations like America’s VetDogs and the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. Their initiatives, including the Friends Fur-Ever Program, aim to enhance dog adoptions and foster community connections, positively impacting both dogs and their owners.

Nylabone Cares is dedicated to supporting nonprofit shelter and rescue organizations across the country. In 2017, we focused on donating chew toys and providing essential support to ease dogs’ stress and help them find their forever homes.

Hurricane Relief Efforts

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma during August and September 2017, numerous rescue organizations and shelters rose to the occasion, taking in dogs that were affected by these devastating natural disasters. Nylabone, along with its parent and sister companies—Central Garden & Pet, Four Paws, and Cadet—made several generous donations to these organizations to aid in their recovery efforts.

When we learned that the Natural Disaster Search Dog Foundation National Training Center had to evacuate due to the Thomas Wildfire in Southern California, Nylabone Cares immediately sprang into action. We reached out to see how we could assist and were able to provide donations to the evacuated dogs. Once the Search Dog Foundation was able to return to their facility, we made additional in-kind donations to ensure they had what they needed.

Moreover, we contributed toys and supplies to several organizations that played crucial roles in the relief efforts for these natural disasters, including:

  • ASPCA Distribution Center, Florida
  • ASPCA Distribution Center, South Carolina
  • Atlanta Humane Society
  • Austin Pets Alive
  • Best Friends Atlanta Pet Adoption Center
  • Best Friends Pet Adoption Center
  • Calhoun County Humane Society
  • Camp Papillon Animal Shelter
  • Florida State Animal Response Coalition
  • Houston Humane Society
  • Humane Society of Aransas County, Texas
  • LA Animal Services
  • Monmouth County SPCA
  • Paws With a Cause
  • St. Hubert Animal Welfare Center
  • Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation
  • Town Lake Animal Center

These efforts exemplify our commitment to supporting organizations that are dedicated to rescuing and caring for dogs in need, especially during times of crisis.

Support for Assistance Dogs

Support for Assistance Dogs

At Nylabone, we are proud to support organizations that provide assistance dogs to those in need. One such organization is America’s VetDogs, which features a puppy named Charlie, who has made appearances on NBC’s Today Show. Charlie’s presence on national television has helped raise awareness about the needs of disabled veterans, showcasing the vital role that assistance dogs play in their lives.

We are honored to donate to America’s VetDogs, as well as the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, which provides guide dogs free of charge to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. These organizations not only improve the quality of life for their recipients but also foster independence and confidence.

Looking ahead, we are excited about our partnership with Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) in 2018. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to people with disabilities. CCI has six regions that utilize approximately 50 bones each quarter, and we are eager to contribute to their mission.

Through our support of these organizations, we aim to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals who rely on assistance dogs, helping them to navigate their daily challenges with the companionship and support of a well-trained canine partner.

Conclusion

At Nylabone, our commitment to supporting shelters, rescues, and assistance dog organizations reflects our belief in the importance of giving back to the community. Through our various initiatives, including disaster relief efforts and partnerships with organizations that provide assistance dogs, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of dogs and the people who care for them.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to advocating for those in need and ensuring that every dog has the chance to find a loving home or serve a purpose in the lives of those who require assistance. Together, we can continue to make an impact and support the furry friends who bring joy and companionship to our lives.
